Vera Claire
Vera Claire is an American artist and educator based in Oaxaca, whose work bridges installation, social practice, and ancestral knowledge. With a deep reverence for natural fibers, Vera creates large-scale textile pieces that explore themes of identity, land, and survival. Her recent work uses maíz—corn—as both material and metaphor to speak to issues of migration, environmental risk, and cultural continuity in Mexico. A lifelong student of Indigenous craft and collective wisdom, Vera’s practice is grounded in dialogue, ritual, and critical pedagogy. Her connection to Noir lies in a shared belief: that true luxury is found in what is rooted, intentional, and transformative.
